Invoice Generator with Logo: Prepare, Place and Check Your Image

Want an invoice generator with logo upload, rather than a separate design project? In BUQ’s invoice generator, adding your own logo is free and does not require an account. Choose your image through Upload Logo, then check how it looks in the invoice preview.

The useful details come after that first upload: which file to use, how the template places it, and what to look for in the downloaded PDF. This guide focuses on those details. For the business information and line items, follow our separate guide to creating an invoice online.

Prepare a file the editor accepts

BUQ accepts image files, including PNG, JPG, SVG and WebP. The editor’s upload control states a maximum file size of 2 MB. Larger files and non-image files are refused with a message, so check the file type and size before trying again.

These format and display details come from BUQ’s product team, confirmed for this guide in November 2026. You do not need to make the logo square. The image scales to fit the template’s fixed logo area without cropping or stretching it, and transparent areas stay transparent: the template background shows through them.

Before uploading, open the file and look at the space around the mark. If there is a large empty border, crop unnecessary empty space from the file first. Keep the logo itself intact. That gives you a more useful starting point than trying to compensate for the border inside the invoice editor.

Keep your original file as well as the prepared copy. If the result is not what you intended, you can return to the original rather than keep editing an already cropped version. Treat this as a preparation checklist, not a requirement to redraw your logo or change its proportions.

Add the logo and choose its placement

Open the generator, choose Upload Logo and select your prepared image. Look at the preview before moving on. BUQ’s product team confirmed the following placements for Classic, Modern and Minimalist:

Template Where the uploaded logo appears
Classic At the top right, replacing the company-name heading
Modern At the top left, inside the colored header band
Minimalist At the top left, above the word “INVOICE”

The editor does not let you drag the logo to a different position or resize its box. Choose the template for the placement you want; prepare the image file for the appearance you want within that space. If the logo looks too small because of empty space around it, crop that space before uploading again.

For a transparent logo, pay particular attention to the background behind it. Modern places the image in a colored band, while the other placements have a different surrounding layout. Check that every part of your mark is easy to see in the template you choose. Do not judge the result only from how the file looks when opened on its own.

This is a placement guide, not a screenshot comparison or a promise that every template looks the same. Use your own logo in the preview to choose between them. A wide mark and a tall mark both fit inside the available area; neither needs to be stretched into a square.

Check the downloaded PDF, not just the preview

BUQ renders the PDF from a fixed-width version of the invoice preview. The layout and logo size or position can differ from the preview on your screen, especially on smaller screens. An uploaded SVG becomes pixels in the PDF; it does not remain a vector logo that can be enlarged indefinitely without revealing pixels.

That is why this guide does not promise “full original quality” for every uploaded file. Before sending the invoice, open the downloaded PDF and check the actual result. Use the following review as a practical habit, rather than assuming a successful upload is the end of the job:

  • Check the logo’s edges and any small lettering at the size your client will read it.
  • Confirm that the whole mark is visible and the surrounding space looks intentional.
  • Look at transparent parts against the chosen template background.
  • Check the logo’s position in the PDF against the preview you approved.

If you are unhappy with the result, return to the source image and template choice before sending. Change one thing at a time, then download and inspect the result again. This is suggested review guidance, not a claim based on a customer incident or a measured quality test.

Separate your logo from BUQ branding

Uploading your company logo and removing BUQ’s footer are different features. According to BUQ’s confirmed product guidance, logo upload is free without sign-up. Free-plan users and people who are not signed in still see a footer such as “Invoice generated for free with buq.com.”

Signing in on Solo, Growth or Business removes that footer. See BUQ’s plans and branding options before choosing a plan; you do not need to pay just to add your image. Check the footer in the preview alongside your logo so you know what the document will show.

Know when you need to upload again

BUQ’s product team also confirms that an uploaded logo is saved in the same browser and reappears on subsequent invoices. Clearing browser data or switching devices means you need to upload it again. When you sign in, the generator uses the logo from the first team listed on your account, if that team has one. Otherwise, it keeps any logo already in the editor.

Keep the prepared logo somewhere you can find it for that next upload. Before each invoice goes out, confirm that the preview shows the logo you intend to use, especially if you work with more than one business identity.

Ready to try your file? Open the invoice generator, upload the logo and choose its placement. Finish by checking the downloaded PDF: that is the document your client will receive.
